Throughout life, we all face physical and emotional challenges. Illness is rarely the result of a single cause; it reflects the complex interaction of stress, lifestyle, environment, and the body’s ability to adapt.
Over more than 20 years of study and clinical practice, I have come to believe that meaningful healing begins with understanding the whole person, not just the condition they present with.
Drawing from Korean Sa-am Acupuncture, Koryo Hand Acupuncture Theory, Wu Yun Liu Qi Theory, Su-Jok Therapy, and Constitutional Medicine Theory, I have gradually integrated their principles into my own clinical framework for diagnosis and treatment.
I have seen that when we look beyond isolated symptoms and instead address patterns of imbalance, healing is often more sustainable and more complete. One of the most important truths I have discovered is that even complex and persistent pain can be resolved more easily than expected by restoring balance within the body.
My goal is to help each patient improve function, reduce discomfort, and support long term well being.
Every treatment plan is individualized, grounded in careful assessment and respectful of each person’s history, lifestyle, and needs.
Treatment Philosophy
Beyond Symptoms:
The Art of Balance

One of the most common questions people ask is, “What conditions can acupuncture treat?”
The foundation of traditional East Asian acupuncture is to restore balance within the body. For this reason, I can confidently say that acupuncture can address almost any illness by helping the body return to its natural balance.
Of course, acupuncture has limitations when dealing with structural problems, infectious diseases, or conditions that require surgical removal or intervention.
Then the real question becomes: How quickly can the condition improve, and how can we achieve meaningful results with minimal side effects?
In my experience, inserting more needles does not necessarily lead to faster recovery. The key is to accurately identify the organ system responsible for the underlying problem and then treat it by considering the relationships of balance, support, and control among the surrounding organ systems.
This is the core of my approach to Saam Acupuncture. Even in cases of severe pain, I believe there should be a meaningful response within the first two or three treatments when the underlying cause has been correctly identified.
There are , however, situations in which the response to acupuncture may take longer to become noticeable. For example, when a patient is taking a significant amount of medication or other substances, the effects of treatment may not be immediately apparent. Acupuncture works by helping the body restore its balance through the patient’s own energy and natural ability to heal. Therefore, when a person is severely weakened or depleted, the body may need more time to respond and recover. In some other cases, psychological trauma may also affect how a person perceives improvement, even when the physical condition itself has begun to improve.
In such situations, I believe it is better to acknowledge the limitations of acupuncture and recommend exploring other appraoches that may be more appropriate for the patient.
